December 30, 2016-January 2, 2017
The weather forecast for Blewett Pass on Saturday is for partly
sunny skies with temperatures in the mid-20's - a great winter day
in the high country. We will meet at Stella's in Cle Elum at 8:45 am
on Saturday and head out to Blewett Pass. We plan to snowshoe and back country ski in the Tronsen Meadow and Tronsen Head non-motorized area up at Blewett Pass.
The lower and mid sections of this route are beginner and intermediate terrain
for both back country skiing and snowshoeing. Beginners and intermediates go
up to the mid section and then ski or snowshoe back down. Views of the Stuart
Range and the Wenatchee mountains are wonderful
The upper section is steep and deep and is for advanced snowshoers and back country skiers only. Skiers must have avalanche beacon, shovel and probe and know how to use them, as well as avalanche assessment skills.
Here are maps of the area for you to print out and bring along.
Sunday's weather forecast is calling for cloudy skies with light snow in the Cle Elum area, so that will be a good day to cross country ski or snowshoe on the Suncadia trail network, or perhaps the Coal Mines trail from Cle Elum to Roslyn.
Monday's weather forecast is still a little too far out. We will make plans accordingly once the forecast is firmed up.
See attached document for more details.
Please let Craig know what days you plan to attend and meet at Stella's.
